Every person has a room with a few doors left closed. A history, a tenderness, a weight set down years ago and never spoken of since. On the evening of Our Stories Chapter V, that unspoken weight found its voice.

At SecurityPal, one of our core values is "Human-Centered Innovation." Technology shapes what we build, but it is our humanity that gives the work its meaning. The “Our Stories” event emerged from that truth. It’s not about product, technology, or growth. It’s an evening where people are brave enough to be seen, where a sentence can close distances, and where every story leaves the room a little lighter.

The fifth annual event gathered us on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel. Five speakers and one evening handed over to storytelling.

Behind the Scenes: Before the curtains rolled

Long before a single light warmed the stage, the evening was already being written. The tangible pieces had their place, but the real craft was shaping a room that could hold vulnerability. And with months of preparation, the organizing team did an incredible job building a room quiet and warm enough.

Presiding over that preparation was Anup Neupane, actor/theatre director. Under his hand the telling turned theatrical. Voices found their rise and fall, silences were given room to breathe, and well-chosen props slipped into the storytelling, objects that carried more weight than their size. Session by session, the group learned the quiet mechanics that let a story open up and connect.

Some stories come from the people you least expect. Roshan Maharjan, our Facility Manager, had worked on every Our Stories event from behind the scenes until this one asked him to step into the spotlight.

"Our Stories Chapter V was quite different for me compared to the previous chapters. In Our Stories Chapters I to IV, I mainly worked behind the scenes, focusing on designing the experience and building the concept. This time, I got the opportunity to experience it from a completely different side as a storyteller. Sharing my deeper personal story in front of a crowd was challenging and something I never imagined I would do. But after sharing it, I felt surprisingly light and relieved. This experience taught me a lot and helped me step outside my comfort zone. I'm truly grateful for this platform and the opportunity to share my story. And I believe Our Stories Chapter VI is going to be even more of a banger!"

Key Highlights from Chapter V

This year our host was Aanya Khadka, our Legal Officer and the host of the evening, who opened Chapter V and kept the room flowing between stories.

"Some experiences leave a little warmth behind, and Our Stories was one of them for me. Being part of Chapter V and having the chance to host it made the experience even more special. There's a quiet that falls over the room right before someone shares something real, and then a warmth that follows once they do. It was a beautiful reminder that there is always more to someone than what we see in our everyday interactions. It touched something in me, a mix of pride, tenderness, and gratitude for the people around me. I came away from the day feeling grateful for the stories that were shared, the memories we created together, and the privilege of being part of a space where we could simply listen, connect, and appreciate one another a little more."

Our guest speaker, Amir Raj Thapa the executive director at AmCham, spoke straight to the SecurityPal team in attendance. Amir took us back to his roots: a boy from the fields, raised humble and close to the land.

While preparing my story, I wanted to connect with the young and energetic team and help them see a little of themselves through my experiences. Standing on the stage made me feel like a student again, preparing for a performance that truly mattered. I felt proud, grateful, and happy to be part of the storytelling session and having my wife there made it even more special, turning the experience into a beautiful reflection of our journey together."

The evening reached a deep note when family members filled the seats. Asmita Joshi, our People Operations Specialist, had spent years keeping events afloat from the edges, unseen and steady. This time she stood at the center of the light, her daughter in her arms, her parents close by.

"I've spent years behind the scenes at events, making sure it all ran smoothly from the side. This time, it was me on that stage, and I felt every bit of it. With my daughter in my arms, my parents right in front of me, it felt like a full circle moment. For my dadu, whom I've never once said 'I love you' to, this was my way of saying: I see you. I understand you. I carry it with me, always."

What stays with us

The gentle power of Our Stories is how swiftly it moves past the surface of things. We can sit beside someone for months, knowing them by their title and their output, and never glimpse the river running beneath.

"You spend months knowing someone by what they do, and then in one evening you find out what they've been carrying. I was one of the people standing up there this year, and I didn't expect how much lighter I'd feel afterward. I'm lucky to work somewhere that creates space for something like this."

This is the thing we are really reaching for. The technology is the work, but the people are the ground it stands on, and ground only holds when there is trust enough to be truly known. Our Stories gives that trust a place to take root. A clearing where the parts we usually keep folded away can be set out in the open, with nothing waiting there but grace.
